About the Program
The Young Future Energy Leaders (YFEL) program is one of Khalifa University's flagship initiatives, established in 2010 under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi.
The program develops future leaders in energy, climate change, sustainability, and emerging technologies through academic engagement, industry exposure, and leadership development.
YFEL 2027 is a year-long experience connecting academic knowledge with real-world challenges through structured modules delivered by Khalifa University and leading international partners.
Program Structure
Phase I – Foundation
- Introduction to energy, sustainability, and climate science.
- Interactive workshops and expert discussions.
Phase II – Advanced Exploration
- Advanced energy systems and clean technology workshops.
- GIS mapping, ESG topics, and emerging technologies.
Phase III – Leadership & Application
- Research and innovation projects.
- Communication, leadership, and presentation skills development.
Participants will attend the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) from 12–14 January 2027 and engage in year-round enrichment activities, technical forums, conferences, outreach programs, and newsletters.
Eligibility Criteria
- Age 20–25 as of January 2027.
- Currently pursuing or holding a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
- Minimum GPA of 3.50/4.00 or equivalent.
- Strong interest in sustainability, clean energy, space, or future technologies.
